Building Relationships with Parents-
It is May and while my mind is filled with getting my garden ready for planting, as well as SPRING CLEANING. So of course I am applying that to my teaching. Reviewing the year what worked, what didn't, what I should have done differently, and what I wish I did instead.
Fourth Grade has for years been a grade where expectations are high. Well before Common Core, we had the 50/50 balance between fiction and nonfiction. Last fall, after a summer off, , I felt that the incoming fourth grade were not as prepared for the rigors they would meet. Much of that is still the transition to the Common Core curriculum. So I started to think of what would help. At my school we use School Fusion pages. So my team and I created a Fourth Grade Summer Page that we could design just to reach out and welcome incoming fourth graders and there parents. Our plan is to compile an e-mail list of the parents of soon to be fourth graders letting them know where they can go with their questions about fourth grade.
As we create the post and the documents I will post them here to share with you. If you get a chance check out my crafts page for a really sweet Mother's Day Idea. Happy Spring Everyone!!!
